Friday Five Do Nothing Edition

I'm trying to figure out the reason that the gay marriage bill failed to pass in NY by such a huge number this week? Or failed to pass at all!

1. I won't be doing much more shopping since most of mine is done.

2. I will be filling out more forms, since my mortgage banker at CHASE BANK informed us, moments after the gay marriage bill failed that our Canadian marriage would not be recognized and that we had to apply separately for our mortgage! I bought a house with a partner in 1978 and this didn't happen!

3. I won't be planning Christmas dinner, as we will be going out.

4. I will be wrapping the gifts for the gifts for homeless kids party that our Catholic Lesbians group is having tonight.

5. I will be lighting candles for 8 festive nights!

I cheated with will and won't. I will be taking as many naps as possible!

Sorry and a little shocked to hear about the NY vote. I think the naps are a great idea!

I love that cartoon!! So sorry to hear there are so many morons who voted. And the bank thing is just torturous anyway, why would they make it more so?!!

Thanks for your comment. I also am dismayed by your #2 and wonder if it would have happened absent the news about the vote -- some people tend to overreact when something's in the news. As for finding church fairs in NYC -- hmm. Maybe people are too busy to make stuff? The two Catholic churches in our town (now merged with several others into one parish, 3 priests) both have fairs, a mixture of members' stuff and local crafters renting tables. Is there any kind of neighborhood newspaper where you live? I suppose trolling the 'net for churches nearby and checking their websites might work. Anyway perhaps you'll find some at your new place!

Too late for this year, but the Norwegian Seamen's Church has a Christmas fair in mid-November, food sounds great too.
