Fall Equinox Friday Five

Fall Equinox Friday Five
It's that time of year, at least north of the equator. The windows are still open, but the darned furnace comes on early in the morning. My husband went out for a walk after an early supper and came home in full darkness.

And yes, where we live, leaves are beginning to turn.

As this vivid season begins, tell us five favorite things about fall:

1) A fragrance
Back in Ohio, growing up, the smell of burning leaves was a favorite fragrance of fall. We don't have that here. But, here, the lack of outstanding smells hearkens the the coming of autumn.

2) A color
Darker colors in clothes, browns, greens. A change from summer.

3) An item of clothing
Well, I have to go our storage container and fast. It's two blocks away. Tweeds, maybe a jacket. Or jackets and blazers in general. Long pants on the weekend. Boots-like the great black ones I got last spring at Woodbury Commons and have never worn!

4) An activity
Enjoying walking around my favorite city, again! Not just rushing from ac's place to ac'd place!

5) A special day
Columbus Day is always nice. A holiday without particular strings. I'm also looking forward to election day this year, and how!

I'm smiling, because both of our scents were from Ohio!

Also because I love tweeds...

Nice play!

Oh, boots, yes, forgot about loving those, and excited to get new ones this year! Looking forward to that election also. Perhaps we can have an on-line RevGal party.

I noticed in the Bauer, Bean and J. Jill catalog that tweeds are making a comeback (as if they ever really left). The party is pushing absentee balloting but I really like the ceremony of going to the polls, and they are so close to me that I would have no excuse short of tragic illness for not making it. Good play, nice to see someone else remembers burning leaves!
